Lockdown | Free queer-friendly counselling support

Advertorial

The national lockdown not only affects us physically but also has the potential to have a huge mental and psychological impact, especially for vulnerable individuals like members of the LGBTQ community.

That’s why We’re Queer my Dear and the Gateway Health Institute (GHI) have partnered together as part of the GHI national #StayStrong campaign to help and assist in these trying times.

The #StayStrong campaign was launched at the annual “Light the Night” event, on 16 November 2019, to coincide with the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence.

The #StayStrong campaign is there to promote acceptance and inclusivity and to share a positive message that we as a community care about these issues. We all have a right to live free from violence, bullying and “othering”.

Should you or anyone you know be experiencing psychological stress, anxiety or depression in these times, the #StayStrong campaign has highly trained and skilled LGBTQ-affirming counsellors ready to assist and help where needed. FREE of charge.

If you are also feeling unsafe during the national lockdown in your immediate surroundings or know of anyone in a possibly life-threatening environment please contact them.

E-mail Werequeermydear@gmail.com or staystrong@ghi.ngo and they will put you in touch with these professionals. All contact, outreach and communication will be held to the highest regard in confidentiality.

Taking care of yourself is of utmost importance. Your health is your right, come out, step up and take care of your mental health with WQMD and GHI. Should you require more information on mental health and #StayStrong please visit https://ghi.ngo/mental-health.
