Miss Drag South Africa has revealed the 13 finalists for its 2025 edition, describing them as shining examples of community-driven passion and dedication.
The contestants come from a wide range of backgrounds and regions across South Africa, including the Western and Eastern Cape, Gauteng and Limpopo. They showcased their skills, talents and commitment to making a positive impact on society during the event’s recent “Glam Camp”.
“They embody the true spirit of pageantry, showcasing empathy, kindness, and a genuine desire to make a difference in their communities,” said Pageant Director Queen Enigma Von Hamburg.
More Than Looks
Von Hamburg emphasised that the crown is about far more than style or appearance.
“It’s not just about physical beauty or serving looks,” she explained. “Our queens must possess a heart for people, be compassionate, kind, and community-driven. These qualities, which cannot be packaged like makeup, are what truly set our queens apart.”
Drag With a Purpose
Since its inception in 2016, Miss Drag South Africa has crowned queens who have gone on to become role models and agents of change in their communities and beyond.
Through its “Drag with a Purpose” initiatives—an important part of the scoring process—the pageant encourages contestants to engage in meaningful community service and advocacy. This fosters a culture of compassion, kindness and dedication to service.
The 2024 edition made history when, for the first time, a transgender woman – Anastasia K. Boney, a constable in the South African Police Service – took the crown.
The Grand Finale
The Miss Drag South Africa 2025 crowning gala will take place on Saturday, 6 December at the Artscape Theatre in Cape Town. The evening promises to be an unforgettable celebration of glamour, talent, unity and the power of drag.
A special red-carpet event will precede the gala, offering guests the chance to mingle with the finalists and other attendees. Priced at R150 per person, the two-hour red-carpet experience includes canapés and a glass of MCC on arrival.
Tickets for the main event will be available on Webtickets from the end of September 2025. With last year’s show selling out, organisers recommend purchasing early to avoid disappointment.
