In Pictures: 2025 Inclusive Buffalo City Pride

Buffalo City celebrated its third Inclusive Pride March on Saturday, 29 November with powerful visibility, resilience, and unity, as dozens of LGBTQ+ community members and allies took to the streets of East London.

Beginning at the Old Fleet Spar in Quigney, participants marched through Curry Street and along the Esplanade, filling the beachfront with colour, music, and a message of unapologetic pride. This year’s theme — Queer, African & Proud — spoke directly to ongoing attempts to delegitimise queer identities in African contexts, asserting a rich history of resistance and belonging.

Organisers emphasised that while Pride is a joyous expression of identity and community, it is also a response to the violence, discrimination, and harassment that queer people in the Eastern Cape still face.

The event concluded at Baby Lee Jeggels Park. Here, participants picnicked, played games, and took part in community-building activities, closing the march with reflection, connection, and joy.
