Hundreds of people filled Durban’s South Beach beachfront on Saturday 6 June as eThekwini Pride 2026 culminated in a vibrant celebration of LGBTQIA+ visibility, equality and solidarity.

This year’s event stood out for the strong presence of families and allies, with parents, siblings and loved ones marching proudly alongside LGBTQIA+ community members. Songs of resistance, pride and liberation echoed along the beachfront as activists, community leaders and supporters from diverse backgrounds came together in celebration and advocacy.,

Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister for Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities Mmapaseka Steve Letsike reminded attendees that South Africa’s Constitution was hard-won and must continue to be defended.

Following the march, celebrations continued at The Joint, where attendees gathered for an afternoon of music, dancing and connection in a safe and affirming space.
