Johannesburg’s LGBTQ+ nightlife scene got a new shot of energy on Saturday, 25 July, as RUSH made its debut with its inaugural event, Heaven, at Level Three in Kramerville, Sandton.
The first RUSH party brought together a vibrant crowd ready to dance, connect and celebrate the freedom to be unapologetically themselves.
From the moment guests arrived, the atmosphere was charged with energy. The dance floor became a space where people could let go, express themselves and simply enjoy the night, surrounded by a community that understood the assignment: come as you are and dance like nobody is watching.
For co-owner and DJ Dinarte Menezes, RUSH was born from a desire to reignite Johannesburg’s party scene following the closure of the much-loved LGBTQ+ venue Babylon.
The launch of RUSH signals a new chapter for queer and fluid nightlife in the city, creating a space for people to come together, experience great music and celebrate their identities in an environment rooted in freedom and self-expression.
With its first event now in the books, RUSH looks set to become part of Johannesburg’s evolving LGBTQ+ nightlife landscape, bringing a fresh energy to a scene that continues to reinvent itself.
