Lady Gaga has released a 14-minute-long music video showing off her acting skills to promote her new single, Marry the Night.
The clip sees the singer in a mental institution, on top of burning cars and in a dance studio and features plenty of strategically censored nudity along with tearful scenes.
The star said that the emotional moments in the video mirror her feelings when she was dropped by her first record label.
“It was one of the worst days of my life and it happened quite quickly. But in my mind, when I think back on that period of my life, it all happened very slow,” she told E! News.
“It is my personal way of seeing things. I am the artist of my own life. I choose to tell you what happened. If you give up after something like that, you were never destined to be an entertainer.”
She added that the video is in essence “an insight into my entire creative process and the way that I view things”.
The video is the first time that Gaga has directed a music video on her own following the recent firing of her previous collaborator Laurieann Gibson.
