Andy Rodick loses
Tennis pretty boy Andy Roddick again lost to Roger Federer on Thursday, this time at the US Open. Shame. In honour of his valiant effort against the world number one, we’d share a couple of arbitrary pics of Andy with you.
Footskating 101 premiere
Thursday’s premiere of local comedy flick Footskating 101 was a celebfest of note. Mambaonline schmoosed with a-listers including hunky swimmer Ryk Neethling (as tanned as ever) and SABC TV presenter turned b-grade movie actor Graeme Richards (sporting a short cropped haircut) among a plethora of celebs. The film’s stars were also in attendance, including Charl Beukes and Brendan Jack. The premiere took over all the screens at the Brightwater Commons cinema complex in Joburg. Most of the cast, and Mambaonline, were in a cinema which experienced technical hitches, which meant we missed the first five minutes of the film. We were surprised to hear the always gorgeous Elana Africa declaring a crush on the chubby Brendan Jack. As for the movie itself, we’ll leave that to the critics…
Big Brother Africa gets pervy
Those recently watching the Big Brother Africa 2 channel on DSTV may have been rather pleased to catch Richard and Code showering in the buff, with Richard sporting a very visible semi-stiffy. The camera operator, not entirely content with the wide shot of the two men showering next to each other, chose to zoom up close on Code’s ample manhood. The screen grabs are already doing the rounds on the internet. Here at Mamba Mansions, we’ve decided to take another look at the show…
Madonna and Elton kiss and make up
Madonna and Elton John famously had a falling out after Elton commented at a 2004 award-function, “Madonna, best fucking live act? Fuck off! Since when has lip-synching been live? That’s me off her fucking Christmas card list but do I give a toss? No.” Her madgesty, who insisted that she did indeed sing live at her concerts, was not impressed. But this week the two divas kissed and made up at the GQ Men of the Year Awards in London. Elton introduced Madonna as a surprise guest on stage and admitted that he had “written a grovelling apology and offered to join the Kabbalah.”
Brothers and Sisters star on gay kisses
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Brothers and Sisters actress Rachel Griffiths (you may also remember her from Six Feet Under) spoke out about the show’s gay characters and their man-on-man kissing scenes: “I’ve had older women come up to me: ‘Could you tell your writers I can’t deal with those gays kissing all the time!’ And I’m like, ‘How do you feel about a black person and a white person kissing?’ They’re like, ‘Well, that’s all right.’ And I’m like, ‘Well, you know what? Your mother probably would have been uncomfortable with that. So you just have to get with the program.'”
Anna Nicole Smith’s ex a ‘gay’?
The father of Anna Nicole Smith’s daughter, Larry Birkhead, has long been the subject of gay rumours, which he has consistently denied. Now, a new book about the late star, Blonde Ambition: The Untold Story Behind Anna Nicole Smith’s Death, is set to perpetuate the claims. Rita Cosby’s book claims that Birkhead and another of Nicole’s exes, Howard K.Stern, had a fling. The book says that the two men were caught having oral sex. Predictably, instead of leaping out the closet, Birkhead has denied all, threatening to sue the author. Appearing on Larry King Live, he insisted that “It’s fiction and hopefully it’s sitting next to Harry Potter in the fiction aisle.”
Matrix brothers are no more
The Matrix movies introduced a remarkable filmmaking duo to the world: the Wachowski Brothers. But now things have gotten a little complicated in defining their relationship – especially for all those hetero action fans. One of the siblings, Larry, has just completed his transition to a woman. It’s unclear if she has actually undergone sex reassignment surgery, but Larry is to henceforth be known as Lana Wachowski. It’s been rumoured that Lana will only talk to the press about her experiences after the release of the duo’s new film Speed Racer next year – out of fear that the controversy may affect the film’s box-office.
