AIRLINE GOES GAY FOR A DAY

Advertorial

Air New Zealand is set to go gay for a day with a special flight that will include drag queens and a cabaret performed by members of the crew.

The 14 hour flight, scheduled for 26 February next year and departing from San Francisco, has been organised to commemorate the Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras in Australia. The festival takes place in Sydney from February 9 to March 1 2008.

“We are looking at tailoring the in-seat entertainment and having gay-friendly movies and contests and different music and things like that,” Jodi Williams, an Air New Zealand marketing director, told the Associated Press.

Passengers will pay around $1,000 for the return flight which will also include pink cocktails.

The airline put on a successful similarly themed flight, which saw the pilot wearing fairy wings for the occasion, for this year’s Mardi Gras.
