TRIANGLE PROJECT ROBBED

The offices of Cape Town’s Triangle Project were robbed by armed men last week Friday, leaving staff and clients shaken.

Several staff members, a consultant and two clients were robbed of their personal possessions. Nobody was harmed during the incident, although several people were traumatised.

“The safety and integrity of our staff, volunteers, clients and consultants is of the utmost concern to us,” said Glenn de Swardt of Triangle Project. “In particular it is essential that anyone visiting our premises should feel safe.”

He added that, “We have taken several steps to secure everyone’s physical safety whilst on our premises.”

According to Triangle, additional security measures include the deployment of a private guard and the installation of panic buttons throughout the building.

Staff and others involved in the incident have been offered trauma debriefing and counselling.

On behalf of the staff and volunteers of Triangle Project, de Swardt extended his appreciation to everyone who offered the organisation support following the robbery. He also commended the rapid response of the Woodstock SAPS.

Triangle Project is a non-profit organisation offering specialised services to the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community of greater Cape Town.
