VEGAS-STYLE SAME-SEX WEDDINGS AT SEXPO

Sexpo Cape Town, which takes place at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) from 8 to 11 May, will be offering straight and gay couples the opportunity to get hitched in a Vegas-style ‘Chapel of Love’.

“Whether couples wish to commit to one another, tie the knot or simply renew their vows, the Sexpo Chapel of Love will be available – complete with Elvis impersonator – to deliver a somewhat different, slightly naughty relationship experience,” said Sexpo organiser Silas Howarth.

The Sexpo Chapel of Love will offer daily commitment ceremonies or, for advance booked couples, the opportunity to get married.

He said that the idea struck him while watching yet another celebrity quickie wedding report on television. “There is a certain glamour, a naughty excitement and an impulsive aspect to committing Vegas style,” and, he added, “it’s really sexy.”

The Sexpo Chapel of Love will be available for all types of commitment ceremonies, said Howarth.

“No matter your preference or persuasion; committing to the person you love has no ‘right place or right time’, instead, it’s about passion, the heat of the moment and the connection between two people.”

Organisers expect Sexpo Cape Town to outperform both its Joburg and Durban predecessors. “Cape Town’s event will see up to 35% more exhibitors and it promises to be naughtier than anything we’ve done before.”

Pre-booked wedding packages at The Sexpo Chapel of Love include VIP treatment, a photographer to capture the event, Sexpo Commitment Certificates and couples will receive fantastic honeymoon gifts following the ceremony, with four lucky couples receiving a champers and seafood dinner for four at the exclusive Harbour Lights restaurant in Gordon’s Bay.

Couples can also capture the special occasion with live wedding portraits by penile artist Pricasso. “We encourage partners to write their own vows to one another – nobody says I love you quite like lovers do,” said Howarth.

Couples who wish to book their wedding or who require additional information about the Sexpo Chapel of Love should mail hitched@sexpo.co.za.
