MILLIONS IN WORLD’S LARGEST PRIDE

Millions of people have celebrated Pride in Sao Paulo, Brazil, which is said to be the world’s biggest gay Pride event.

Brazil’s largest city, and the country’s business capital, saw over a million people take part in the 12th annual street parade.

Sunday’s parade through the skyscraper-lined streets was the culmination of a weeklong series of Pride-related events in Sao Paulo.

Although city authorities did not release official crowd numbers, saying only that millions had been present, organisers estimated that around five million took part or came to watch the parade.

Tourists officials expected over 300 000 tourists to flock to the event, adding around US$115 million to the city’s coffers.
