Gilles Marini’s career soars after SATC flash

Gorgeous model turned actor, Gilles Marini, surprised everyone who saw his full frontal shower scene in the Sex And The City movie, (here at Mamba Mansions, we think that he’s faaaar more deserving of the nickname ‘Mr Big’ than ol’ Chris Noth).

The half-Greek/half-Italian 32 year old has worked as a model for four years, but since appearing in SATC as Samantha’s sexy neighbour, he’s been labelled as Hollywood’s latest male eye candy, apparently receiving hundreds of emails and job offers since the movie’s May premiere. Let’s hope his sexy ‘bit’ part will only lead to even more revealing roles.

Brokeback Mountain: The opera?

The New York City Opera has reportedly commissioned composer Charles Wuorinen to compose a non-stop singing version of the Academy Award winning 2005 film, Brokeback Mountain. If all goes according to plan, the gay cowboys will be skipping onto stage in Spring 2013.It might well be an arbitrary choice for an opera, but no stranger than the recent Lord of the Rings musical. We personally can’t wait until we see Pink Flamingos: The Musical on Broadway, complete with a true-to-life re-enactment of everyone’s favourite scene.

Katherine Heigl snubs Emmy nomination

Katherine Heigl, in what appears to be an attack on the Grey’s Anatomy writing staff, has turned down the opportunity to be nominated for an Emmy this year citing that she “was not given the material this season to warrant an Emmy nomination”. While many agree that Grey’s has taken a turn for the worse this season, at least we know that Kath has some integrity, who added that she didn’t want to deny the nomination to another more deserving actress.

TR Knight in commitment ceremony with toyboy

In other Grey’s Anatomy news, TR Knight took part in a recent mass commitment ceremony with his 19 year old boyfriend Mark Cornelsen. The symbolic event was held in West Hollywood to launch Pride month in the US, but has no legal standing. Also attending was Mayor Jeffrey Prang and talk show host Jay Leno (perhaps to make up for his distasteful gay jokes). TR said that he participated in the ceremony because “There’s a lot of hate around and until that hate disappears, you’re going to have people trying to push down another group of people for whatever reason.” Uhh, okay…

Carell & The Rock play up gay kiss for laughs

In the upcoming movie Get Smart, Steve Carell and Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson reportedly share an on-screen kiss. Said Dwayne, who has long been at the centre of gossip around his sexuality, about the smooch: “It was just one of those things where I thought well, you know, ‘What could be the most entertaining and funniest moment that we could think of that would still make sense and still kind of root in reality?’” Well, it’s good to know that a gay kiss can provide endless amounts of humour for the heterosexual public. Ta, guys.

Backstabbing brother sells Madonna’s secrets

Madonna’s gay brother, Christopher Ciccone, is writing a memoir focusing on his sister, one of the most famous women in the world. Three hundred and fifty thousand copies of Life With My Sister Madonna are set to be released mid-July this year and we can only hope that it’ll provide appropriately juicy bits of gossip (that Madge will most likely deny). Madonna’s spokesperson, Liz Rosenberg has stated that the siblings are no longer close, and that the star had not participated in the writing of the biography. It’s rather sordid and tacky that Madge’s brother has turned on her, but we’ll be first in line to read it!

Shia apologises for gay slurs

A video of Indiana Jones star Shia LaBeouf in his formative years has been circulating around the internet since Monday, depicting the young star using the term ‘faggot’ to provoke a friend into hitting him during a spat between the two. Shia’s camp immediately scrambled to do a little damage control: “He regrets having used the word in any capacity and is very embarrassed that this footage is being seen by anyone,” said his publicist. So, do we forgive the star for a youthful slip-up? It’s up to you to decide.

‘Wham!’ movie teeters on the edge of oblivion

A documentary film planned to depict pop duo Wham! in its hey-day has hit a potential snag on its road to production. Simon Napier-Bell, the band’s former manager has expressed concern that George Michael could stop the film in its tracks if he denies producers use of the band’s music. Napier-Bell claimed that the pop-star will have to have final say on each script presented. Let’s hope that George, who announced this week that that he will be quitting touring (yawn), won’t be a party pooper.
