LONDON EYE GOES GAY FOR PRIDE
The iconic London Eye tourist attraction has been illuminated in rainbow colours to mark this weekend’s upcoming London Pride Parade.
The landmark will be lit in the colourful colours for three days, from Thursday to Saturday 5 July; the date of one of the world’s largest Pride celebrations.
The move reflects the importance accorded to Pride in the UK’s capital city.
According to David Sharpe, Managing Director for The London Eye, “Pride London is a great London event, celebrating London’s diversity and what better way to show our support than by turning the London Eye all the colours of the rainbow.”
David Drury, Marketing and Communications Manager for Pride London said “What better way to kick of this year’s celebrations than lighting up one of London’s most iconic landmarks in the Pride colours. It’s great to see that London is as excited as we are about this year’s event.”
Pride London, a registered charity, is the capital’s annual gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender cultural festival. Last year’s parade attracted over 460,000 visitors.
Pride organisers recommend checking out the lighting display from 10pm.
