CELEBS JOIN PROP 8 PROTESTS

Advertorial

Actors Drew Barrymore and James Franco have joined street protests against the passing of Proposition 8 in California.

Thousands of gays and lesbians have been protesting for the last five days after a majority of California voters chose to support the measure, which will constitutionally bar same-sex marriage in the state.

James Franco, who is best known for his role as Harry Osborn in the blockbuster Spider-Man films, joined protestors in Los Angeles on the weekend.

Franco also stars as the late gay politician Harvey Milk’s partner in the upcoming biopic film Milk.

Charlie’s Angels actress Drew Barrymore addressed protestors in Silver Lake, Los Angeles, on the weekend; affirming her support for same-sex marriage rights.

“This is so wrong. And with all my heart I could not feel more passionate about this. I am honoured to be in your presence and I will fight with you,” she said to loud cheers from the crowd.

More protests against Proposition 8 are expected in California and in major US cities this week.
