GAY PENGUINS STEAL EGGS

A gay male penguin couple in China has been caught stealing eggs from straight penguin couples.

In attempt to avoid being found out, the two penguins, which are kept at Polar Land in north-east China, apparently replaced the stolen eggs with stones.

This did not fool the other penguins however and the gay couple became ostracised by the group.

The Austrian Times reports that zookeepers explained that male penguins have a natural instinct to look after eggs, and the gay penguins were simply stealing eggs in order to fulfil this need.

The Zoo has decided to keep the gay couple away from the other penguins during the breeding season.

“It’s not discrimination. We have to fence them separately, otherwise the whole group will be disturbed during hatching time,” a zookeeper told the newspaper.
