A police recording has revealed that Boy George appears to have admitted to handcuffing a male prostitute against his will.

The tape, recorded during the singer’s interview with police when he was arrested, was played in the Snaresbrook Crown Court on Monday.

“I absolutely admit I had him in the handcuffs, so he wouldn’t go anywhere while I checked the computer. I certainly wasn’t going to kill him, that’s hardly going to do my career any good is it?” George said on the tape.

“I was just so angry. It wasn’t about me doing anything, I just wanted to make sure he did not leave my house,” he was heard to later say.

The pop star is being tried for the false imprisonment of Auden Carlsen, by handcuffing him to a hook on a wall in April, after he accused the man of tampering with his computer.

The recording appears to contradict George’s claim that Carlsen, who he had invited to his London flat for a pornographic photo shoot, agreed to be handcuffed.

Carlsen has also accused George of beating him with chain, which the singer denied in the recording: “Those are serious handcuffs, there was no reason to beat him up when I’d put him in those.”

Carlsen has claimed that the next morning he was able to free himself and, in his underwear, ran into a nearby shop from which the police were contacted. The fire brigade was also called to cut him free from the handcuffs.

A doctor, who examined Carlsen the day after the incident, testified that he had various cuts and bruises on his body and that his face was swollen.

George’s lawyer has accused Carlsen of embellishing his story for profit.
