Pop singer and DJ Boy George, real name George O’Dowd, has been sentenced to 15 months in jail for falsely imprisoning a rent boy in April last year.
The sentence was handed down today in a London court following a guilty verdict in December, reports the BBC.
The former Culture Club front man was found to have beaten and then handcuffed sex worker Audun Carlsen (29) to a hook on the wall of his flat in London during a violent drug binge.
In the sentencing, Judge David Radford accused O’Dowd (47) of “premeditated” and “gratuitous violence” and said that the incident was “degrading” and “traumatised” Carlsen.
O’Dowd’s lawyers claimed that he had handcuffed Carlsen because he had stolen files from the singer’s computer when they first met at O’Dowd’s flat in 2007 for a naked photo shoot.
