A right-wing French government minister has revealed that he is gay ahead of the publication of his autobiography.
Roger Karoutchi (57), The French Secretary of State for Parliamentary Relations, confirmed speculation about his sexuality in an interview with AFP.
“I’m neither living a lie, nor flaunting anything. I discuss it naturally. I have a partner and I’m happy with him. As I’m happy, I see no reason why I should hide that,” he said.
Karoutchi’s autobiography Mes quatre verites (My Four Truths) will go on sale from the 4th of February.
While the current Mayor of Paris, Bertrand Delanoe, came out as gay ten years ago, Karoutchi is the only openly gay minister in the French government.
