MORMON CHURCH LIED ABOUT ANTI-GAY FUNDING

It’s been reported that the Mormon Church lied about how much money it spent to support the ban on same-sex marriage in California.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints had claimed that it only spent $2,078 in its efforts to promote Proposition 8 – the measure that banned gay marriage in the state late last year.

Now a report filed by the Church with the secretary of state on Friday, revealed that it actually spent at least $190,000 in its anti-gay campaign. The money was spent on travel expenses; facilities and equipment; and to pay staff.

The Church is now being investigated by the Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC) for allegedly not correctly reporting its funding of the campaign as required under Californian law.

Fred Karger of Californians Against Hate, who filed the complaint with the FPPC against the church, told the San Francisco Chronicle:

“This is exactly what we were talking about when we filed the suit. They spent money on the campaign and were supposed to report it.”

It has been claimed that individual members of the Mormon Church also collectively contributed millions of dollars towards supporting the ban on same-sex marriage.

  1. …… A church that lied? Now that’s a shocker *not*. Lying, stealing, cheating, hate-mongering are the standards in any church or religion. It’s what they are built upon.

    1. Disgusting. How disgusting that is….not for being anti gay but for lying ….churches suppose to lead people to better and good life that means don’t lie don’t still and don’t commit adultery and another seven commandments….
