Twenty two year old actress, model and singer Lindsay Lohan has confirmed speculation that she and her girlfriend, Samantha Ronson – one of the most high-profile same-sex couples in the world – have broken up.

Following a public split on Twitter, Lohan told E! news, “We are taking a brief break so I can focus on myself.”

In their spat over the weekend at the Chateau Marmont hotel in Los Angeles, Lohan raged against Ronson on Twitter from her hotel room:

“I was right all along. Cheat being cheated on does wonders to you… look, im doing this publicly because u+ur friends call people mag..so-you win, you broke my heart. now go away. i loved you”

She later wrote: “PLEASE leave me ALONE. And stop staying in the room below me, you’ve woken me and my mother up. Go to bed. Keep cheating — u win.”

The Hollywood starlet’s on-and-off relationship with the 31 year old DJ has lasted just over a year, but apparently the final straw was when Lohan accused her partner of cheating on her and taking drugs behind her back.

Lohan, who has had several stints in rehab over the past few years, was also denied entry into Ronson’s sister’s recent birthday party

A locksmith was seen leaving Ronson’s house, where the couple have been living together.
