BOY GEORGE FREED FROM PRISON
Pop singer Boy George (47) has been released from Edmunds Hill prison in Suffolk four months into his fifteen month sentence, thanks to his good behaviour.
Boy George, real name George O’Dowd, arrived home yesterday looking healthier and skinnier than before he went in. He will wear an ankle monitoring tag, have a strict curfew and is expected to regularly report to his probation officer.
He was joined by friends and family at his London flat to celebrate his freedom. O’Dowd’s brother, Kevin, was seen arriving at the flat with a box of groceries.
In January, the former Culture Club front man was found guilty of beating and then handcuffing sex worker Audun Carlsen (29) to a hook on the wall of his flat during a violent drug binge.
In the sentencing, Judge David Radford accused O’Dowd of “premeditated” and “gratuitous violence” and said that the incident was “degrading” and “traumatised” Carlsen.
O’Dowd’s lawyers claimed that he had handcuffed Carlsen because he had stolen files from the singer’s computer when they first met at O’Dowd’s flat in 2007 for a naked photo shoot.
