MISS CALIFORNIA KEEPS TITLE

Hilton asks Prejean about same-sex marriage.

Carrie Prejean is being allowed to keep her titles as Miss California and runner up to Miss USA despite breaking pageant rules.

Pageant officials had considered taking away her crown when Prejean broke pageant rules by appearing in semi-nude photos and speaking out against same-sex marriage.

The decision was left to business mogul Donald Trump, who owns the Miss USA pageant. He said that after careful deliberation the pictures were deemed as “fine”. “Some were very beautiful, some were risqué, but again, we’re in the 21st century,” Trump said at a press conference.

This comes after the scandal surrounding Prejean’s view on same-sex marriage, where she responded to celebrity judge Perez Hilton’s question on same-sex marriage by saying that “a marriage should be between a man and a woman.”

During a recent radio interview with evangelical Christian James Dobsonwas, Prejean said: “I felt as though Satan was trying to tempt me in asking me this question, and then God was in my head and in my heart saying, ‘Do not compromise this. You need to stand up for me… and you need to show that you’re not willing to compromise that for this title of Miss USA’.”

At the press conference, Prejean said that her anti-gay marriage beliefs were the same as that of President Barack Obama’s. “The President of the United States, the Secretary of State, and any Americans agree with me in this belief.”

Trump said that he would not hesitate to invite back gossip-monger Hilton, despite the uproar he caused after the pageant. “He’s doing his thing,” Trump said. “What’s the big deal?” Prejean also forgave her “hateful attackers” and Hilton, saying to reporters: “I willingly forgive them before all of you today.”

She added: “I’m not going to be speaking out against same-sex marriage. I’m going to resume my duties as Miss California but also stay true to who I am. We will see how we will balance the two.”

Trump refused to be drawn on the issue of same-sex marriage saying: “I don’t think this is about me. If you don’t mind, I think I’ll take a pass. It’s not up to me. It’s a very big issue. It’s a very complicated issue. And it’s an issue that has two sides and I understand both of the sides very well.
