Superstar actress and humanitarian Angelina Jolie has knocked talk show host Oprah Winfrey from the top of Forbes’ annual “The World’s Most Powerful Celebrities” list this year.
The rankings are based on income over the past 12 months as well as web references, press clippings, broadcast mentions and major magazine covers devoted to the celebrity, Forbes said.
Although Winfrey is the list’s top earner with $275 million, Jolie has garnered the most publicity with her movie outings, the birth of her twins, as well as the consistent headlines she grabs for her philanthropic efforts and her relationship with actor Brad Pitt, who takes the No. 9 spot.
Other celebrities on the list include multimedia queen Madonna in third place, followed by singer and actress Beyonce and Tiger Woods.
American President Barack Obama has become the first head of state to enter the list, debuting at No.49.
