QUEEN SUPPORTS ANTI-GAY CHURCH FACTION
Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II has upset gay activists by showing support for a faction of the Church of England that denounces homosexuality.
According to the Daily Telegraph, the Queen wrote two letters to the Fellowship of Confessing Anglicans (FCA), offering her support, expressing her understanding and wishing them success.
“The Queen has made a serious error of judgement. Her letter of support for the breakaway anti-gay faction is collusion with prejudice. She has insulted lesbian and gay people and breached royal protocol by embroiling herself in an issue of religious and political controversy,” said human rights campaigner Peter Tatchell.
“Her Majesty is aligning herself with a Christian fundamentalist grouping that is founded almost entirely on its opposition to gay priests and gay human rights. Homophobic prejudice and discrimination is central to its religious ethos. It is very alarming to see the Queen endorse a homophobic grouping within the Church of England. She is taking sides, against gay equality,” added Tatchell.
The Queen, who is the Supreme Governor of the Church of England, wished the FCA well with today’s launch in London of a new alliance of evangelical and Anglo-Catholic parishes in Britain and Ireland.
Buckingham Palace said it would not comment on private correspondence. Royal sources said the Queen was not specifically endorsing the FCA’s anti-gay stance and pointed out that she corresponds with a great number of organisations.
May I just ask what is the point of this old woman in the 21st century? Royal families should be stripped of their entitlements. They serve no real purpose other than to suck up the millions of pounds in taxpayers money in order to keep them in a lifestyle they’ve become used to. They all live in this fantasy world and it’s about time it should crashing down around them. There is no place for the queen & her family in a modern 21st century society. And the sooner she realises that the sooner the millions spent on her can be used for more useful things such as fighting terrorism, crime, paying teachers, policemen/women more, improving public services etc.
