LEAKED EMINEM SONG HAS GAY SLUR
A new song by rapper Eminem, which has been leaked on the internet, includes lyrics that sound like an anti-gay slur.
The track, titled Elevator, is in the re-issue of his album Relapse which includes additional songs and is set to be released later this month.
In the song, the star raps about a number of openly gay celebrities: “Sorry Lance, Mr. Lambert, and Aiken / Ain’t gonna make it / They get so mad / When I call them both fake its.” Fake its!
The words “Fake its” sound like the gay slur “faggots”.
In response, openly gay pop star Adam Lambert tweeted: “Wow Eminem mentioned me in a song! I must be doing something right!? Even if he used the f wprd… Whtev.”
Eminem has previously been accused of being homophobic, but he surprised many by singing with openly gay singer Elton John at the Grammys in 2001. He has claimed that he portrays homophobic characters in his songs, but is not homophobic himself.
In 2005, John said of the rapper: “From the start, I’ve always admired Eminem’s thinking. That’s the reason I wanted to appear on the Grammys with him when I was asked, despite all the nonsense talked about his being homophobic.
“Let the Boy Georges and the George Michaels of the world get in a twist about it if they don’t have the intelligence to see his intelligence.”
