Former British Lions captain Gareth Thomas has hosted a star-studded bash to celebrate his recent coming out as a gay man.

London club Movida – known for its pink decor – was the location for last Thursday’s party, which was attended not only by Thomas’ rugby team-mates but also by celebrities such as Will Young and Graham Norton as well as LGBT activist Peter Tatchell.

“Everybody here tonight is celebrating that the world is changing,” Thomas was quoted by the Independent as saying at the event.

“We are here to send the message that it’s OK to be a sportsman and it is also OK to be gay,” he said.

Thomas, who is the most capped Welsh rugby player in history and currently plays for the Cardiff Blues, came out in an interview with the Daily Mail newspaper in December last year. He also recently agreed to be a patron of Britain’s LGBT History Month.
