FORMER MR GAY UK CHARGED WITH MALE RAPE

A former Mr Gay UK and policeman Mark Carter has been charged with male rape and other charges related to body-building drugs, reports the Yorkshire Evening Post.

The charges are related to an incident at the Etap hotel in Leeds in December last year. He was arrested at the time but then released pending the results of an investigation. He was also suspended from his job as a police constable in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire.

Carter, who has a degree in sports science, won the 2006 Mr Gay UK title and was runner-up in the Mr Gay European pageant in 2007.

He said that one of his primary reasons for taking part in the competitions was to change the stereotypical perceptions of gay men.

Carter is set to appear at the Magistrates’ Court in Leeds on Tuesday.
