GAGA PUT ON EARTH “TO MAKE GAY VIDEOS”
Superstar Lady Gaga has received a record 13 MTV Music Video Award nominations – the most ever by an artist in one year.
The video for her hit single Bad Romance has been nominated, among other categories, for video of the year, best pop video, best female video and best dance video.
She is also the first female artist ever to have two of her videos nominated in the video of the year category in one year; Bad Romance and Telephone, her collaboration with Beyoncé.
“I’m so honoured for all the little monsters and self-professed freaks of the universe, to have more VMA nominations in a single year than any artist in MTV history. Ironically, I’m even more proud it’s an unlucky number: 13,” said the singer in a statement.
“A long time ago, the world told me and my little monsters we would never be heard. Together we changed the rules. God put me on Earth for three reasons: to make loud music, gay videos and cause a damn raucous. Thank you, MTV!”
Gaga – who has said that she is bisexual – is followed by Eminem in this year’s awards; the rapper has eight nominations.
