Afrikaans singer Jurie Els has published a tell-all biography in which he reveals details about accusations that he molested younger singer Robbie Klay.
The Afrikaans book, titled Ver Van Vrede – My Volle Verhaal (Far From Peace – My Full Story), also covers Els’s interactions with other Afrikaans music stars such as Sonja Herholdt and Patricia Lewis.
Klay (24) claimed last year that Els, who he saw as a father figure, repeatedly molested him over a period of five years starting from when he was 11.
Els, who now lives in New Zealand with his wife and child, denied all charges and was acquitted by the North Gauteng High Court in December.
Johnny le Roux of Naledi publishers, told Beeld that Els “wrote the book to clear his name after the Robbie Klay scandal”.
“If it hadn’t been for the supposed scandals we probably wouldn’t even have published the book,” he added.
Klay’s agent, Gert van Schalkwyk, slammed Els for publishing the biography “just as Robbie is managing to get back on his feet”.
