OUTRAGE OVER SCHOOL BOARD MEMBER’S ANTI-GAY RANT
An Arkansas school board member is under fire after he posted a status update on Facebook saying that gay teens deserve to commit suicide.
Clint McCance, who is a member of the Midland School District Board, made the comment in reaction to the recent Spirit Day campaign which urged people to wear purple in honour of gay teens who had committed suicide as a result of homophobic bullying.
“Seriously they want me to wear purple because five queers committed suicide. The only way im wearin it for them is if they all commit suicide. I cant believe the people of this world have gotten this stupid. We are honoring the fact that they sinned and killed therselves because of their sin. REALLY PEOPLE,” McCance wrote as his Facebook status update.
Reacting to comments on his wall to the update, McCance continued his hateful rant:
“…being a fag doesnt give you the right to ruin the rest of our lives. If you get easily offended by being called a fag then dont tell anyone you are a fag. Keep that shit to yourself. I dont care how people decide to live their lives. They dont bother me if they keep it to thereselves. It pisses me off though that we make a special purple fag day for them. I like that fags cant procreate. I also enjoy the fact that they often give each other aids and die. If you arent against it, you might as well be for it.”
He added later: “I would disown my kids if they were gay. They will not be welcome at my home or in my vicinity. I will absolutely run them off. Of course my kids will know better. My kids will have solid christian beliefs. See it infects everyone.”
The Human Rights Campaign, the largest LGBT rights group on the US, called on McCance to resign. It also sent letters to the US Department of Education, the Arkansas Department of Education and the Midland School District calling for an immediate investigation into McCance’s conduct and to suspend him from office if he does not resign.
“Clint McCance has put a face on the hate that devastates our young people,” said HRC President Joe Solmonese. “McCance and his hate shouldn’t be allowed near children, let alone managing their education. We call for his immediate resignation from the school board.”

GET HIM FIRED. The land of the free? I think not. It’s really disturbing what’s going on in the USA right now. The challenges faced by the gay population just seem to be mounting. Obama has not lived up to his promises to repeal DADT and getting married is still not legal in most states and not a federal law. On top of it all hate crimes against gays seem to become a daily occurence. The USA is a VERY big country and for these things to become daily news is really worrying. The scary part is that middle America (those backward Wallmart types) share similar anti gay views. It has to end. Go to Facebook and click. …… For God’s sake, ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!! I am sick to death of being told that who I am is wrong. I am tired of hearing people calling for me to be jailed just because of my sexuality. I am, for the most part, just so angry at people who think they are better than me just because they sleep with women (as if that makes them superior!!). People are dying out there because of what sick, twisted fucks like this teacher said. Does that not matter? I am angry that my life (and theirs) is seen as second-rate. I am outraged that their deaths are being mocked and ridiculed. Why is my life and theirs devalued just because ignorant and weak-minded people feel it their god-given right to remind me every day that who I am is wrong? That who I am is sick. That who I am is worthless. Well, I am here to remind them that who I am is better. That my life has EQUAL value. We will fight! And we will fight till our last breath to ensure that the future is safe for all.
