PEREZ HILTON MOST GOOGLED GAY OF 2010

Controversial gossip blogger Perez Hilton is the most Googled openly gay person in the world, followed closely by singer Adam Lambert.

“Wow! We’re just as shocked as you are! And humbled! Thank you!!!!” wrote Hilton (32) on his blog after hearing the news.

The “Most Googled Gays of 2010″ was published by Advocate.com, which described the list as “a modern day popularity contest”.

“Last year, we began compiling the most Googled gays and lesbians in the U.S. This year, heightened visibility in the media invited unique results. This time around, with stricter guidelines, we kept our list limited to only out people,” it said.

Hilton was followed in second place by Lambert and in third place by talk show host Ellen DeGeneres.

Others in the top ten include Elton John (4), Ricky Martin (5), designers Marc Jacobs (6) and Alexander McQueen (7), television news commentator Rachel Maddow (8), internet sensation Antoine Dodson (9) and actor Neil Patrick Harris.
