CHRISTINA WON’T BE CHARGED
Singer Christina Aguilera won’t be charged after she was arrested for public drunkenness in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Police pulled over the car in which Aguilera (30) was a passenger, driven by her boyfriend Matthew Rutler (25), who was arrested for driving under the influence.
According to police, the star was taken into custody because she was so inebriated that she “was not capable of taking care of herself”.
“When she got out of the car, she couldn’t stand. We had to help her stand. She didn’t know where she was and she didn’t know her own address. We took her into custody for her own protection,” said Steve Whitmore, the chief public information officer for the Los Angeles Sheriff’s department.
The two spent the night in jail before being released. Rutler was let out on 30,000-dollars bail. Aguilera will not be charged with any crime, but she will have an arrest record.
Because she won’t be charged, Police would not release the singer’s mug shot but E! Online was able to obtain the picture by photographing the arrest report.
Gossip blogs and tabloids have claimed that Aguilera has been drinking excessively and is out of control since the breakup of her marriage to husband of five years, Jordan Bratman.
Last month she apologised after mixing up the words to the national anthem while performing during the Super Bowl. She also fell over after singing a tribute to Aretha Franklin at the recent Grammy Awards.
Commenting on the arrest, singer Pink tweeted: “Out of Myself, Britney, and Christina- didn’t everyone think I was gonna be the troublemaker? LOOK MA!!! No CUFFS!!!”
