GALLIANO DENIES, APOLOGISES & HEADS FOR REHAB
Disgraced designer John Galliano has apologised for his behaviour yet denies making anti-Semitic remarks.
Galliano was fired as head designer of Christian Dior this week after he was arrested for allegedly making anti-Semitic and racist remarks in an altercation at a Paris Cafe.
Later, a video came to light in which a slurring Galliano says “…I love Hitler…”
On Wednesday, Galliano issued a statement – his first public comment on the matter – saying: “I completely deny the claims made against me and have fully co-operated with the Police investigation”.
He added: “I must take responsibility for the circumstances in which I found myself and for allowing myself to be seen to be behaving in the worst possible light. I only have myself to blame and I know that I must face up to my own failures and that I must work hard to gain people’s understanding and compassion.
“Anti-Semitism and racism have no part in our society. I unreservedly apologise for my behaviour in causing any offence,” said the 50 year old British designer.
Galliano also said that he is “seeking help” which, according to reports, entails entering rehab for a drinking problem.
Meanwhile, French prosecutors confirmed Galliano will stand trial over the alleged anti-Semitic and racists remarks. He faces up to six months in prison if found guilty.
