PORN STARS PANIC OVER BEING OUTED

The real names of performers in the US and British adult entertainment industry have been released on a website, sparking fears that they will be outed to family and employers.

Many porn performers, gay and straight, work under stage names and their family and employers in other industries are often ignorant of their adult entertainment work.

An anonymous site called PornWikileaks has caused an uproar in the industry by publishing the real names of around 12 000 performers with the aim of “making the adult industry less corrupt and more open”.

While the site has named both male and female performers, it has a homophobic slant. PornWikileaks has particularly targeted male performers who work in both gay and straight porn, accusing them of ruining the industry by being HIV risks.

The site has also named some male performers that it claims are HIV positive. Gay porn star James Jamesson recently posted his HIV test results online to prove that he is negative after the site claimed that he was knowingly spreading HIV.

There have been reports that at least some of the information posted on the site was stolen from the Adult Industry Medical (AIM) Health Care Foundation, which provides HIV-related services to workers in the adult entertainment industry.

AIM, however, has denied the claim. While it said in a statement that it is conducting an investigation into the possible theft it insisted that information such as home addresses and identification documents are not included in their database.

“The malicious nature of the site cannot be overstated,” added AIM.”
