This weekend’s first-ever South African concert by pop-star Kylie Minogue at Sun City is set to break records in the venue.
According to the concert promoters, when Minogue steps on to the Superbowl stage on 8 July it will be “a production befitting a Greek goddess”.
The Aphrodite Live World Tour concert will feature one million diamante crystals, 200 costumes – many designed by Dolce & Gabbana – 1000 feathers, six high flying aerialists and a cast of 23.
It will be the biggest show ever staged in the Superbowl and the stage will have taken 500 people to build and design. It takes half a million watts and 5 kms of electric cable to power the spectacle.
The concert requires two Boeing 747s to travel to South Africa; one for the equipment and the other for Minogue and her team.
It will then make use of 15 15-metre trucks to transport the production gear within the country.
Minogue, who has sold over 60 million albums worldwide, performs at Sun City on 8, 9 and 10 July and then in Cape Town, at Grand West, on 13 and 14 July. Tickets are available at Computicket.
