NEW SUPERMAN REVEALED

The first official photo of British actor Henry Cavill in all his Superman glory has been released.

Cavill, who is best known for his role in the television series The Tudors, was earlier this year announced as the next actor to play the part of the legendary superhero in a new film, to be directed by Zack Snyder.

“I’m focusing on being as true as I can be to the original character and who the character is,” he told Total Film magazine.

“I’m very proud to be British and playing an iconic American superhero. It means I am doing something right.”

He revealed that he is undertaking a gruelling regime to build up his physique for the role.

“I’m on 5 000 calories a day. I’m training two-and-a-half hours a day, pushing my body beyond its normal limits, putting on a lot of muscle to make myself look like Superman.”

Filming on Superman is reported to be about to begin “imminently” in Chicago. The film will also star Russell Crowe as Superman’s father, Amy Adams as Lois Lane and Laurence Fishburne as Perry White, editor of the Daily Planet.
