US POLITICIAN WALKS OUT OF PIERS MORGAN INTERVIEW
Christine O’Donnell, a conservative politician in the US, has walked out in the middle of an interview with CNN’s Piers Morgan because of his questions about her views on homosexuality.
O’Donnell, who was backed by the Tea Party in a failed run for the Senate, has released a book detailing the campaign, which she was promoting on Morgan’s show.
In the interview, O’Donnell became increasingly irritated by Morgan’s questions about her previously stated belief in sexual abstinence until marriage and her opposition to masturbation and same-sex marriage.
According to CNN, O’Donnell said in the interview that she did not wish to talk about these issues but only her book.
“Don’t you think as a host, if I say this is what I want to talk about, that’s what we should address?” she asked Morgan.
It was when Morgan said no, that O’Donnell removed her microphone, saying, before walking out, “I was supposed to be speaking at the Republican Women’s Club at six, and I chose to be a little late for that. Not to endure a rude talk show host, but to talk to you about my book and the issues I address in my book.”
Morgan later told Broadcasting & Cable magazine: “I can’t believe she can think – as not at all a frontline politician – that she can dictate to CNN the terms of an interview.
“From an interviewing standpoint, I don’t think there was anything that would constitute rudeness. The issue of gay marriage is clearly significant in the wake of Michelle Bachmann. I wasn’t asking about to it to be outrageous, I just assumed she would have a standard answer for it since she wrote about it in her book. It was bizarre,” said Morgan.
