GLEE CREATOR DEFENDS GAY SEX EPISODE

Glee’s Kurt & Blaine

Glee’s creator, Ryan Murphy, has defended his controversial decision to depict the popular television show’s gay teen couple, Kurt and Blaine, finally going “all the way”.

In the latest episode, titled The First Time, not only do heterosexual couple Rachel (Lea Michele) and Finn (Cory Monteith) lose their virginity, but so do Kurt (Chris Colfer) and Blaine (Darren Criss).

The scenes, which are described as being extremely tame and show no nudity or simulated sex, have generated anger and outrage from conservative and religious groups in the US.

“Why shouldn’t [Kurt and Blaine] lose their virginity at the same time?’” Murphy asked while talking to

The Parents Television Council issued a statement condemning the episode, saying: “The fact that Glee intends to not only broadcast, but celebrate children having sex is reprehensible. The gender of the high school characters involved is irrelevant. Teen sex is now more prevalent on TV than adult sex and Glee is only playing into that trend.”

The Culture and Media Institute, said that the show was part of “a relentless campaign of liberal propaganda and pushing the boundaries of what’s acceptable on broadcast TV”.
