KILLER GETS TWO LIFE SENTENCES FOR MURDER OF EX-LOVER

Advertorial

The man who killed his former male lover and his sister has been given two life sentences in the Durban High Court.

Mario Tsware (29) pleaded guilty last week to the murders of Dennis Roberts (75) and Roberts’ sister, Crystal Roberts (71).

On Monday, Judge Karthy Govender sentenced Tsware to life for each of the murders as well as 30 years in jail for robbery with aggravating circumstances.

Tsware met Roberts through an online dating site in June and they began a relationship, despite Roberts’ sister not approving.

Roberts helped to support him and the two lived together before Roberts ended the relationship in October and stopped assisting Tsware financially.

On 27 November, Tsware and an accomplice, Sthe Ximba, lured Roberts to a hotel where they strangled him and stole R300 and his car.

They then went to Roberts’ house, where his sister also lived, and strangled and stabbed the woman. They stole Roberts’ cell phone, wallet, bankcards and laptop and withdrew R4 000 from his account before abandoning the car.

SAPA reported that Judge Govender said that the murders were well planned and described Roberts as a generous man who helped Tsware.

Police continue to search for Ximba.
