POPE SCARED BY GAY MARRIAGE
Pope Benedict has again vilified same-sex marriage, claiming that it threatens the traditional family and undermines the future of humanity.
Speaking to diplomats from 180 countries accredited to the Vatican, Benedict on Monday warned of the dire consequences of gay and lesbian marriage.”
He said that children need to be taught that “pride of place goes to the family, based on the marriage of a man and a woman”.
Benedict insisted that “this is not a simple social convention, but rather the fundamental cell of every society.
“Consequently, policies which undermine the family threaten human dignity and the future of humanity itself,” he said.
The Roman Catholic Church has vocally opposed efforts to legalise same-sex marriage across the globe.
The Pope has previously stated that homosexuality and same-sex unions are a threat to the survival of humanity. In December 2008 he warned that a “blurring” of genders could lead to the end of the human race.
Trust me Katlego, there’s quite a few “sisters” in the Vatican
lol he can say what he wants, im cath0lic til i die, wether im gay or n0t
I’m confused – this overdressed drag queen’s wig fell off and she’s still smiling? And just because nobody wants to marry her she’s opposed to gay marriage?
Yikes enough with the angry remarks … each entitled to his or her own opinion, fortunately I have been priveledge to witness the greatness of a lesbian household, where love is the basis irrespective of sexual orientation … wonderful couple, great kids and all round truly amazing human beings … alas humanity is in safe hands when love and respect holds it together!
Fortunately the Catholic church is much bigger than just the Roman jurisdiction (under the authority of the pope). There are other Catholic jurisdictions where all are welcome and same sex marriages are recognized and blessed in church.
I think what people need to understand is that the Church, in its nature, is about the family. It holds the Holy Family (Jesus, Mary and Joseph) as its example. To take that away from the church would certainly cause rifts among parties.
It bothers when Christians try and justify their hate because of what an institution believes but fails to listen to the teachings of Christ. We are love each other and love our God, was the new commandment.. no terms and conditions or a disclaimers..
Likewise it irritates me when Gays and Lesbians force their opinions on God fearing people who may seem like lost sheep at times. If your argument is I want to marry – then you cannot equal that to what christians have called it for years, rename it and accept that as equal. Why would you want to insist on imposing your views on a church who seem, in your view, archaic and backwards?
You cannot win either way, but both continue to oppose each other instead of finding common ground.
As a Gay Catholic i have reconciled that i will never be married in a catholic church, but that does not make me less catholic. I understand my faith and i was brough up in the faith and believe in it.
It is those individuals who are not affiliated to any church or God who makes this a WAR between those who seek to know God and believe and those who vehemently oppose it.
There are reasons as with anything, stick to what you know and try to educate yourself on the things you dont know.
