After making a vow to the public that they would not marry each other until marriage was legal for everyone in the United States, America’s most famous couple may be about to break their pledge.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have been together since 2005 and are raising six children.

Pitt (48) told The Hollywood Reporter that his growing children are making it hard for him to keep his promise not to marry.

“We’d actually like to, and it seems to mean more and more to our kids. We made this declaration some time ago that we weren’t going to do it till everyone can,” the actor said.

“But I don’t think we’ll be able to hold out. It means so much to my kids, and they ask a lot. And it means something to me, too, to make that kind of commitment.”

When asked if he had already proposed to Jolie (36), Pitt said that he wouldn’t discuss further details of a possible wedding.

“But to be in love with someone and be raising a family with someone and want to make that commitment and not be able to is ludicrous, just ludicrous,” he added.

Pitt has been an active supporter of the LGBT community in the U.S. In 2008 he donated $ 100, 000 towards the campaign against California’s Proposition 8, which barred same-sex marriage in California.

When same-sex marriage was legalised in the state of New York last year, he spoke out in favour of a federal measure to legalise same-sex marriage.

Pitt was married to Jennifer Aniston when he started his relationship with Jolie who in turn was previously married to Billy Bob Thorton and Jonny Lee Miller.
