MAGIC MIKE STAR TALKS ‘MANSCAPING’
Hunky gay actor Matt Bomer has spoken about having to “manscape” his nether regions for his role as a stripper in the film Magic Mike.
Bomer (34) spoke to People magazine about shaving, waxing and grooming his private parts for the film, which deals with a group of male strippers played by stars such as Channing Tatum, Alex Pettyfer, Matthew McConaughey and Joe Manganiello.
“We all had to go there. I’m not going to say it was fun, and personally I will never do it again, but for that project it was necessary. We were all in the boat together,” he said.
He added: “What was important to me was to tell the story authentically, and I wanted to reflect what the dancers in real life do. And that’s part of their job.”
Bomer revealed that he also did some research on the mindset of exotic dancers.
“It’s a profession that’s not widely accepted by the general populace, so even though they raz each other and it is a sort of locker room environment, they help each other out and look out for each other, and I feel like that’s something we picked up on,” he said.
Bomer found fame as the star of the hit TV show White Collar, in which he plays a con man and thief who agrees to help the FBI capture criminals.
The Texas-born star is in a relationship with Simon Halls with whom he is raising three children – Kit, Walker, and Henry.
In February, Bomer came out by thanking his partner and family when receiving an award for his work in the field of HIV and AIDS.
Magic Mike opens in South Africa on 20 July.
