HACKERS ATTACK UGANDAN SITES OVER GAY RIGHTS
A number of Ugandan websites have reportedly been defaced or taken offline by a group of hackers protesting that country’s oppression of LGBT people.
According to the Examiner website, Ugandan government and parliamentary websites as well as PayUganda.com and pepsi-cola.co.ug have been targeted.
The hackers, a group called GSec (Grey Security), associated with the
international ‘hacktivist’ collective known as Anonymous, claim that they have accessed Uganda’s national bank website, official news websites, and the country’s department of defence website.
The group issued statements taking responsibility for the attacks on the sites and stating their motivations.
“The reasoning behind these multiple defaced and DOS’d websites is simple. We do not and will not ever stand for gay/lesbian discrimination,” said GSec.
The group added: “So, to all Ugandan officials, we would like to welcome you too OPERATION FUCK UGANDA(#OpFuckUganda). Prepare for a war you cannot and will not withstand.”
Another message read: ” We have full access to at least 50 of your websites, and even more are being hacked and (D)DOS’d…. This operation is going world-wide, and everyone is helping out. You want to put people to death, only because they have different likings than you do, how fucking disgusting.
“Let me take you back to the 1800’s, when the Americans would infiltrate Africa and take people to work as slaves only because they were black. Your stereo-types are pathetic, and so are you and your security.
“This will continue, until you change your ways and beliefs of LGTB. There is no need to put people to death for this, and we will not tolerate it.”
A number of the sites that were attacked have since been restored.
