ANGELINA JOLIE & HER DAD JOIN BRAD’S MOM’S LETTER FRAY

Angelina Jolie is said to be furious about an anti-gay letter written by Brad Pitt’s mother, while the actress’s father has backed the older woman.
Last week, Jane Pitt wrote a letter to a local newspaper condemning same-sex marriage. Her views are in stark contrast to her son and Angelina’s publicly pro-gay stance.
In the letter, Jane urged Christians to vote for Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney and slammed President Obama as a “liberal who supports the killing of unborn babies and same-sex marriage”.
According to Star, Angelina is angry that Brad hasn’t confronted his mother about the letter, apparently describing him a ‘mommy’s boy’.
“If Brad won’t do it,” a source told Star, “Angelina will have to take matters into her own hands and talk to Jane about how, as the mother of such a prominent celebrity, she shouldn’t be writing letters that clash with her son’s personal opinions.”
Meanwhile, Angelina’s estranged father, actor Jon Voight, has come to the defence of Brad’s mom, telling FOX411’s Pop Tarts column, “Good for her”, and that he agrees with her views.
Keeping the furore firmly in the family, Brad’s brother, Doug, appeared on NBC’s The Today Show, telling viewers: “Moms and dads and kids agree to disagree all over the world, so why would our family be any different?”
Brad and Angelina have yet to make a direct statement about Jane’s letter.
Brad has been an active supporter of the LGBT community. In 2008 he donated $100,000 towards the campaign against California’s Proposition 8, which barred same-sex marriage in California. He and Angelina previously vowed to not get married until same-sex marriage was legalised in the U.S.
