ELLEN & PORTIA CELEBRATE FOURTH ANNIVERSARY

Advertorial

Talk show host Ellen DeGeneres (54) and actress Portia de Rossi (39), one of the highest profile same-sex couples to ever get married, celebrated their fourth wedding anniversary on Thursday.

“Happy 4th anniversary to my beautiful wife, Portia,’ DeGeneres tweeted. “This has been the best 4 years of my life.”

The couple has been spotted in recent week holding hands in public and looking as happy and as in love as ever.

After dating for four years, de Rossi and DeGeneres married on 16 August 2008, just months before California banned gay marriage in the state through Proposition 8. Their marriage (and that of those who married before the ban), however, remains legal in California.

The couple’s wedding ceremony was famously featured on the cover and in the pages of America’s People celebrity magazine.

In 2010, de Rossi applied to legally change her surname to that of her wife’s, to
become Portia Lee James DeGeneres.

“Since they met at the end of 2004, Ellen and Portia have been the ultimate power couple,” wrote Trish Bendix on AfterEllen on Thursday.

“We’ve aspired to be like them, or at least were inspired by their love for one another and the pride they wear while also maintaining successful personal and professional lives. And they always, always look well-put-together,” she said.
