GAY CENTREFOLD RETURNS TO PLAYGIRL AFTER 20 YEARS

The hunky Dirk Shafer, who was Playgirl’s Man of the Year in 1992, will appear in the magazine again next month, this time as a proudly gay man.

Shafer was not open about his sexuality when he first posed for his famous nude photo shoot twenty years ago.

He went on make use of his experience to write, direct and star in a ‘mockumentary’, Man of the Year, about being a semi-closeted gay man in the role of a heterosexual sex symbol.

In 2001, Shafer directed the film Circuit, about the world of gay male circuit parties, and appeared in an episode of Will & Grace.

According to Playgirl he will feature in a 16 page photo spread in the magazine’s upcoming issue, set to hit the shelves in America on September 4.

Playgirl proclaims on the cover that Shafer, now 49, is “back” and that “he’s hotter than ever”.
