The search has now begun to find South Africa’s sexiest male celebrity, which will be announced in November following gay Pride month.

Some of the country’s most revered television stars, sporting hunks, music hotties and other popular male celebrities have made headlines over the past seven years as part of this poll. It’s a fun opportunity for South Africa’s gay community to vote for its favourite local male celeb and provides valuable exposure for the finalists to members of this very loyal and committed audience; regarded worldwide as the most trendsetting and credible judges of fashion, style and beauty.

Past winners of the Mambaonline Sexiest Men poll include TV actors Stefan Ludik and Ramey Short, South African supermodel Damien Van Zyl, television presenters Janez Vermeiren and Rowan Cloete, Cape Town actor, surfer, entrepreneur and model, Dene Botha and Afrikaans music star Robbie Klay.

Apart from celebrating the sexiness of South Africa’s hottest male celebrities, the ClarinsMEN Mambaonline Sexiest Man of the Year survey gives the marketing industry a snapshot of what South Africa’s gay community defines as their ultimate sexy superheroes: those male celebrities who deserve more than just a glance. The survey also offers the gay market a fun platform to filter “who’s hot” from “who’s not” outside the confines of a limited, closed and stereotypical context. The finalists’ own sexuality is not of concern in the poll.

The poll launches annually with a list of 12 finalists, which will published on the website, along with each individual’s short biography and picture. Visitors to will be asked to vote via SMS, online and/or e-mail for their favourite celebrity on the list.
