MCQP ANNOUNCES FANTASTICAL THEME FOR 2012
On Friday night, at Crew Bar in Cape Town, the MCQP team announced the theme and venue for the highly anticipated 2012 costume mega-party.
They revealed that on 15 December, MCQP will be transforming The Cape Town Stadium into a ‘Fairy Tale Fantasy’ with thousands of partygoers attending in groups wearing matching Fairy Tale inspired costumes.
Event director Ian McMahon said that he hopes the nineteenth instalment of the event will pull more than 11,000 visitors, a new record.
“We’re thrilled to announce this year’s theme and believe that party goers and fantasy seekers will enjoy it from once-upon-a-time to happily-ever-after. We’ve decided to bring the party back to The Cape Town Stadium. Its structure and indoor facilities itself are magical,” said McMahon.
McMahon hopes the theme “will give visitors the chance to think back to their childhood, a time when anything seemed possible. We expect a few Rumpelstilskins and Snow Whites to make an appearance and even a Goldilocks or two surrounded by number of bears. It’s a fun theme and no one will turn back to their boring old self after 12 o’clock.”
Entertaining the crowd in true pop princess style will be Lady Gaga and Britney Spears impersonator Derrick Barry, who is taking a break from his Las Vegas show, Divas Las Vegas, to travel to the Mother City, specifically to entertain the MCQP fans.
International and local DJs will also grace the seven dance floors and four experiential areas, each with its own theme and music style.
Headlining the dance floor masters is London-based DJ Paul Heron, who has played at Space in Ibiza and also headlined most of Europe’s Pride Festivals (Barcelona, Madrid, Prague, Paris, London). He has produced official remixes for Scissor Sisters and Grace Jones and will be playing at Elton John’s birthday party in 2013 as well as touring Australia with Boy George.
Globetrotting DJ Justin Hayward, who has worked alongside Tiesto, Armin van Buuren and Faithless, will entertain the crowds with his House and Trance sets. Justin has performed at, amongst others, Poker in the Park, Ministry of Sound and Pacha.
South African Leroy Taylor, who has played at Fire, Brighton Gay Pride, Ministry of Sound and Pacha and toured Ibiza with Tobie Allen’s Bootleg Social label, will also make an appearance. He has performed alongside Danny Rampling, Sasha and Pete Tong and represented Cape Town’s Crew Bar at the World Dance Festival in London 2010. This is Leroy’s third MCQP appearance.
VIP tickets will be available for those who want to avoid long queues on the yellow brick road. A VIP ticket entitles party goers to priority parking, access to a massage area and entrance to an exclusive lounge and bar area where you’ll be treated to complimentary drinks. There will be a VIP Dance Floor with the best in uplifting beats.
There will also be 18 Privé Suites decorated with lush and comfortable furnishings and equipped with a complimentary mini bar and stacked with delicious snacks. Each suite holds 20 visitors, and their VIP access is included in the price. “The suites have been a popular hit the past two years,” said McMahon, “with people having their own private room in which to party.”
Guests may arrive from 8:30pm until 11.30pm, although it is advised to arrive earlier to avoid the rush.
“Arriving late might be in fashion, but you do not want to miss out on your three minutes of fame as you grace the red carpet. Latecomers will have no audience to strut their stuff for, as the line-up of DJs will be a sure crowd puller early in the night,” said McMahon. Live stage performances start at 9pm.
Early bird tickets are available until November 1st at www.mcqp.co.za.
FYI….Dont bother with VIP tickets…you NEVER get whats promised.
