YOUTUBE LIFTS AGE RESTRICTION ON GAY SOAP KISS

A gay kiss from an upcoming episode of Days of Our Lives was briefly rated as “inappropriate” by YouTube after some site users complained.

The anticipated love scene, which sees the character of Will Horton (Chandler Massey) and his boyfriend, Sonny (Freddie Smith), smooching ahead of a bedroom tryst was recently posted on YouTube.

A number of complaints were submitted to YouTube, which is owned by Google, about the clip, leading the site to give it an age restriction.

This in-turn led to an outcry from those who noted that any similar kissing scene between a heterosexual couple would not have received the same rating.

“YouTube/Google seriously needs to fix the problem of allowing some ignorant backwoods homophobes to flag a video simply out prejudice. Maybe they need an (sic) ‘video flagged inappropriately’ to alert them when videos have been flagged out of bias. It’s just obnoxious,” commented one user.

YouTube went on to lift the age restriction, leading another user to comment: “Obviously YT corrected their mistake and the repressive homophobes who are undoubtedly masturbating to this sexy clip will have to get over their internalized hatred and sexual insecurity.”

The scene is set to be broadcast on American daytime television on November 14. Fans of the show have waited for a year for the two characters to finally become intimate.

”The Will and Sonny fans have waited a long time for this but the delay has been a good thing,” Smith, who plays Sonny, told TV Guide. It’s allowed the audience to get to know our characters and to get to a place where they are really rooting for them to get together. I don’t expect anyone will think the sex scene is controversial. Hopefully, we’re past that.”
