A note apparently written by a father to his son after he overheard him planning to come out as gay has touched tens of thousands around the world.
A photograph of the handwritten note has been published on the FCKH8 t-shirt company’s Facebook page.
While the identities of the people involved aren’t known and it’s not clear when the note was written, the photo has, in less than a day, received over 17,324 likes, 7,598 shares and 949 comments.
The letter reads:
“Nate,
I overheard your phone conversation with Mike last night about your plans to come out to me.
The only thing I need you to do is bring home OJ and bread after class.
We are out, like you now.
I’ve known you were gay since you were six. I’ve loved you since you were born.
-Dad
PS: Your mother and I think you and Mike make a cute couple.”
One man on Facebook commented: “So sweet! If only I had been born in this boy’s generation, with parents like that. This brings tears to my eyes, too.”
Some, however, have questioned the authenticity of the letter, suggesting that it may have been manufactured to promote the FCKH8 brand.
